Tallulah Bankhead once commented that she was unable to hear the name Edna St. Vincent Millay without wanting to add "Boom BOOM!"

this is kind of a corollary to the down south thing where if the closest waffle house is closed you should probably update your will and tie down your pets
WTF. The electric company in Texas doesn't have a map of outages so people have been using the Whataburger App to figure out who lost power.

This is like when Homer was using the Krusty Burger map when they got lost at sea.

if you're playing with a cat correctly, you'll be working roughly 900 times harder than the cat. 99% of the effort must be yours. playing with cats is not about exercise, it's about drama. And cats are harsh critics. they need to BELIEVE that plush banana is afraid for its life.

Anyhow the best time to address the shit was yesterday, the 2nd best time is today. Demand everyone asking for your vote to support packing the court, stop giving your resources to the police, demand public housing, healthcare, childcare, education, transit, food support and a right to privacy.

Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

Someone suggested elsewhere that he should order the IRS to release Trump's tax returns and those of anyone and everyone associated with him. Personally I think that would be a good move because then the campaign can follow up with, "Do you see now the danger we face if Trump wins?"

There are two elements to the immunity decision that are particularly extreme in a way that many will miss: (1) motive is irrelevant and (2) immune acts are not just excluded from prosecution, they’re excluded from evidence.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.
My friend and colleague Ken White has written a great thread describing some (but far from all) of the enormous problems with today's decision by Chief Justice Roberts granting Donald Trump criminal immunity on grounds never before accepted by any court. Today's decision threatens the Republic.

1/ Well, my Google (yeah, I know) Pixel 3 XL finally died the night before last. Shows the swirling lights turning into a "G", then the little "Powered by Android", then repeats. Totally ignores the power button. Tried letting it run down the battery, but no joy. The charging cable can only keep up.

Few things in life have shocked me as profoundly as learning some people have no inner voice/monologue. I’ve always thought I was pretty good at putting myself in other’s shoes, but this is a thing, in literal terms, I can’t fathom, at all. Veritably alien to me
