"We are throwing half of our money in a well that legend has it will reward our tributes by making our wishes come true. We simply do not have any choice but to now throw the other half of our money in there too."
One explanation for economic populism in the US is the recurring cycle of bubbles and bailouts that happens without any democratic input

Of course.

TEN MONTHS IN:

The national debt is higher.

The trade deficit is wider.

The inflation rate has worsened.

The unemployment rate is up.

Wrote a column for tomorrow morning about all the crazy shit Trump has done **this week** and hoo boy, let me tell you, it’s a lot. And any one of these things would’ve gotten any past president impeached. The GOP owns every bit of this stain on our history.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Great that Bump does this but the comparison just shows how wickedly corrupt Trump is. He's paying himself millions of dollars to golf. It's like President Colonel Sanders spending most of his term at KFC.
Donald Trump has now officially passed Obama's eight-year total of rounds of golf — in less than five years. I've added a chart to my tracker of Trump's golf/property visits to show just how far past Obama he's getting.

Shame on Rep. Clay Higgins & shame on anyone who thinks this is acceptable.
This man didn’t just cast the lone “no” vote on exposing a global sex-trafficking network… he also grabbed a citizen for daring to ask a question he didn’t like. I hope this young man presses charges.

this sort of factual statement should not be confined to the opinion section
"If Trump’s first term was marked by a level of graft and self-dealing that would have embarrassed a Tammany stalwart, then his second term seems to be an explicit effort to outpace his previous record and set a new high-water mark for political corruption in the [US]."

While, we were busy “fighting” wars. China was building fast trains and doing this.

We are decades behind on green energy and infrastructure.
In 2024, China installed 1.5x as much new solar as the entire US installed base.
