@seattledot.bsky.social it’s great to see micromobilty parking planned for the NW corner of Broadway & E Olive Way!

However it’s too far from the corner to also serve as physical daylighting and prevent the parking lane from being used as a right turn lane.

Can it be moved closer the corner?

Can't believe the city would waste time and money building these car lanes and creating so much congestion for bikes.

New!

We received a lot of requests to release our bonus with Marco te Brömmelstroet, aka “The Fietsprofessor," about a study he co-authored with @ianwalker.bsky.social on where motornomativity comes from... so here it is!

Plus, better language for better streets.

Remember: Our work to advance active transportation threatens the petrochecmical-patriarchy, and they are beginning to feel threatened by us. DON'T LET UP.

Good reporting on this awful bill. Glad to see developers speaking out in favor of bike/ped improvements

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

I've seen some people outside of the US saying, 'finally the Americans are speaking out.' 1) there has never been a time when we were silent. 2) we have been in the streets since 2016. 3) most of us work a lot and don't have the luxury of time to be in the streets protesting.

FUCK KUOW- MISSING THE POINT.
The problem isn't scooters, it's CARS. Helmets are sexy- helmet laws aren't. I should not have to wear armor to exist using any mode I choose. Scooters don't cause pot holes, and anyone hit by a car is likely to have a head injury.

Seattle's e-scooters are hot. Helmets are not. The brain injuries can be 'profound'
Seattle’s popular ride-share electric scooters are sending tens of thousands of people zipping across town — and some to Harborview with serious injuries. Last year, the city’s trauma hospital saw 163...

(1) Remain non-violent.
(2) Civic distribution and property destruction are non-violent. (See a well worded reasoning sourced below.)
(3) If you have the privilege of not fearing retribution (i.e
having visas revoked), act for those that don't.
(4) Be safe, and be protest smart.
Let's Go. (Search "Hands Off" or "Indivisible" for events in your area. No group too small. No location too remote. We need to stand up, show up.)

Paris reduced speed limits on the Boulevard Périphérique from 70 to 50 km/h. The results after 5 months? Reduced traffic congestion, smoother traffic flow, fewer crashes, lower air pollution, and lower noise levels. Read more here (in French) www.apur.org/sites/defaul...

They got the headline wrong. It should read, "Tax the rich? 'Not so fast', says the rich."

I especially love the part where Microsoft questions why the state needs more funds when we have a billion dollar deficit for Transportation and are increasing the gas tax.
Tax the rich? Not so fast, say Microsoft, other Washington state businesses
The local business community is sounding alarm bells about a package of new taxes on wealthy companies and individuals proposed by Washington state democrats.

SDOT needs to improve crosswalks faster, respond to pedestrian safety needs, rather than when citizens decide to do it themselves. Paint the crosswalks here, put up stop here for peds signs, make sure CARS KNOW THEY HAVE TO STOP PEDS.
