I think it's unfair and also embarrassing for me that I'm learning right now that Ethan Peck is grandson to Gregory Peck.

Scrooge did not think of himself as evil. Yes, he was miserly, but he paid the standard (low) wage to his employee, paid his taxes and broke no laws.
But Dickens' point is that it's not enough not to break the laws of God or Man, you need to be charitable.
you think about scrooge and he basically gave cratchit reasonably stable long term employment and paid him more or less enough to raise a family on a single income and he's still a fucking villain. today's billionaires are like 10x worse

Parisot (the Director) tells a story about how Tim Allen just started crying after a scene one day

"I don't like these feelings i'm having." Says Tim. "I'm going back to my trailor" and walks off.

There's silence for a second.

"Oh my god." Says Rickman. "I think Tim just experienced acting."
Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.
Sigourney Weaver Says She Wishes DreamWorks Released A Director’s Cut Of ‘Galaxy Quest,’ Reminisces On Sequel That Never Came To Pass
Sigourney Weaver reflected on cult classic Galaxy Quest and how she wishes the sci-fi satire had released an R-rated director's cut.

JD Vance is just terribly cast.

We’re all watching a dystopian crime drama play out in front of our eyes and also somehow Chucky the doll is central to it.

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Yes, HID headlights are very bright but the bigger problem is the proliferation of gargantuan vehicles with 5’+ hood heights so that if you’re driving a normal sized car their headlights are at your eye level rather than seat level like they’re supposed to be.

Take it from some who teaches about drone strikes, “I shed no tear for that guy” and “this is bad, it shouldn’t have happened” can be normal reactions to have simultaneously.

Opposition to political violence isn’t about personal sympathy for an individual target per se, it’s about society.

Going through the kiddos school supplies list, and it's absolutely insane.
Been to every local store trying to get the requested items, and I'm still short.
I'm now down to either driving 25km downtown to collect $12 worth of duotangs, or buying online for $50.
Absurd.

When politicians allow the system to be rigged in favour of employers, workers have no choice but to resist. Unions can’t be expected to bow to unjust laws — and the way the Liberals have abused section 107 is clearly unjust.

My feelings on strike action is anytime I'm inconvenienced, to contact the management as best I can and make it absolutely clear I blame them for it, not their workers. Get it fixed. Treat them better.
Every time a union strikes there are so many people who insist that it's actually a tactical error because inconveniencing the public makes them unsympathetic, as if the best course of action is simply to do what the bosses want and gain some supposed wellspring of support
