My wife is a music teacher. She did recorder one year and one year only.
Every other year, it's been almost exclusively barred instruments (xylophones, metallophones) and percussion.

It's not an urban legend. I've spoken to dozens of very excellent pilots who have never been to any airport in Winnipeg. Never even heard of anyone who has. I'll take their expertise in the matter.
