It really is tough times out here for all of us who grew up mostly consuming sci-fi and dystopian fiction for fun.

If I were Kevin Love I would immediately sub out and retire after this.

One year I made every dish for Thanksgiving and asked my roommate to finish the gravy so I could shower before guests came over. His only task of the day.
"Just stir in the flower slowly and don't panic and dump it all at once."
Got out of the shower...
"I panicked."
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.

it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

If you weren’t already on Absolute Wonder Woman, you soon will be.

Get caught up on previous issues now before everyone else tries to do the same!
I can’t tell you what an amazing issue this is. @kellythompson.bsky.social and @cleanlined.bsky.social knocked it out of the park.

ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN 15 - out in December.

One of the best series in comics hands down.

Cassidy is a physician who prides himself on vaccinating people and as chair of the senate health committee could’ve stopped a man who spent his adult life mounting antiscience attacks on vaccines from being in charge of federal vaccine science & programs
CASSIDY: I know it's titillating, but I think we need to move beyond the titillation

TAPPER: This isn't about titillation. This is about the fact that you are the chairman of the health committee and you voted to confirm somebody that by all accounts is actually making America less healthy

I know everything thing is awful, but it hits different when they're abducting children in your community. This just sucks.

For the first time next term, I'm teaching a class on Superheroes! While I have way too much knowledge about DC/Marvel characters/history - I have never thought about integrating that directly into my teaching. I welcome recs for comics/scholarly readings & other advice on potential directions! Tnx!

Bill Cassidy should resign from the senate and the medical profession in disgrace for this.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Also, Ultimate readers, please spread the word: next month read Endgame 1 first and THEN Ultimates 19. They come out on the same day, but they must be read in that order. Tell EVERYONE, even if they don't read the Ultimates, or don't read period (like your cat, or your favorite chair, etc)
You're more than welcome. That was genuinely inspiring stuff. I can't wait next issue and Endgame.

Yeah, 100% this. Would be lying if I said I wasn't a little heartbroken to get back into comics for the first time since the early 90s (in large part because of Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man) just to have it end so quickly.
And I think when the second Ultimate version of Parker dropped, they finally felt seen again. And are probably very disappointed to be losing him.

These stories should be the default argument against every person who says universal healthcare would result in long wait times for specialty "like in Canada."

People can't even get basic primary care in our current system. This has to change.
Private Medicaid insurers boast big networks of doctors, but many of them don’t actually see Medicaid patients. “Don’t get sick.”

A graphic representation that seems to be physically strangling the earth seems appropriate for him.
The richest person on that list is Elon Musk. Convert his net worth to centimeters and it’s enough to circle the globe more than 100 times.

It’s not even really comparable.
