Damn you @denizcamp.bsky.social for pulling at my heartstrings.
Thank goodness this book is back. It was too long a hiatus but worth the wait for the best series of the year!

Today is the last day to order ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS 7! It's called DEAD TOMS. It's sad and gory and beautiful.

Here's a 5 page preview!

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Assorted Crisis Events #6, by @denizcamp.bsky.social & @ericxyz.bsky.social, hits harder for me than any other so far. John suffers from Temporal Diminishment, but with my dad, we called it dementia. This whole series has touched me more than any art I’ve encountered all year. Maybe all decade.

As someone who grew up as a caregiver to a disabled parent ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS #6 hit me like a freight train. One of the best single issues of a comic I've ever read. I believe it'll be a powerful lifeline for people in times of crisis.

“Assorted Crisis Events” by @denizcamp.bsky.social is BACK, and my heart hurts 8 pages in. I can’t imagine the emotional toll it takes to write and illustrate this series (art by Eric Zawadzki and colors by Jordie Belaire)

Yeah, it's one of the best comics of the last few years, but I'd say it's also one of the best bits of art of the last few years regardless of medium as well.
If you're not reading it, you're really missing out on something special.

I've been missing my grandmother, who passed in July, more lately.

Maybe it's that the holidays are coming up and that her birthday is at the end of the month.

Still, I'm thankful for the final years we had together even when they weren't easy.

Anyway, thanks for this @denizcamp.bsky.social

I knew that Assorted Crisis Events 6 was going to be about caring for an aging loved one.

And I still cried while reading it. But crying is ok. Grieving is healthy.

I know the alternative and it isn't a place I want to return to.
