Robert Redford playing a gentle incarnation of death, coming for a frightened old woman in The Twilight Zone episode "Nothing in the Dark" (1962). An extraordinary performance then, terribly bittersweet today

I love Robert and his pod but he based virtually all his research on my biography of Vince McMahon, RINGMASTER, so please consider buying the book as well as listening to the pod series:

Watching the most recent batch of Cobra Kai episodes. This show has always existed in a bizarro world where the world revolves around youth karate tournaments, but it’s gotten so much sillier.

Looking at the upcoming @tcmtv.bsky.social listings. Monday is MLK Day-related movies, good stuff. Tuesday’s daytime programming is entirely devoted to movies about resisting various fascists. Edge of Darkness (1943) is at 5PM but didn’t fit the screenshot.

You’ll probably see this screenshot floating around a lot but it really was wonderful to see Lynch put a scene in Twin Peaks: The Return where he has his character literally stare at the camera and say that you should either support trans people or die. I needed to hear that in 2017

A girl I knew in college saw David Lynch speak at an event. When it ended, she found a way to get to the front to tell him how much his films and shows meant to her.
His response was “Thank you. And remember, the universe is in your basement.”

When google killed Reader, the incredible community that was early blogging died almost instantly, and I will never forgive what that did to erase a whole generation of brilliant women writers who also happened to be isolated mothers.
