Until the mid-1970’s, a man could not be convicted of rape in New York State based solely on the testimony of the woman he raped. A second witness was required because the female rape victim was deemed unreliable.

Attacks on feminism are similar to attacks on vaccines. We begin to take for granted a world where women have rights and most children live to see adulthood, and then, over time, we begin to forget, neglect, and (now) reject the movements and innovations that brought us here.

MAGA wants to remove studies of colonialism from universities because it might complicate the Trump line that Venezuela is a colonial power that subjugated the United States, stealing our Oil, Land, and Other Assets.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

It's a bit odd that suddenly there's a father and son duo, who have suddenly become mega billionaires seemingly over night, and now, they just so happen to be buying up every major television network.

I don't believe it.

It stinks of foreign influence.

State TV is a no-go for us.

The way I'd put it is that there's currently a global struggle between democracy and nationalist gangster-capitalism, that this struggle is simultaneously unfolding both within and between states, and that the US currently sits at its epicentre
The New Cold War is against nationalist authoritarianism, and the US is on their side.
Little (open) sign that Europe has even begun to grapple with this.

The Trump administration believes that the rich and powerful should be pardoned for their crimes, even after judges and juries determined their guilt.

But if you’re a non-white guy in a fishing boat, there’s no need for a trial or even an arrest. Murder from above, no questions asked.
When this criminal was jailed, the judge told David Gentile and America: ‘This is a warning to would-be fraudsters that seeking to get rich by taking advantage of investors gets you only a one-way ticket to jail.’ I guess not
