#Eternity µreview: Spoiler alert, don't look at the production credits. I'm sorry, those are ALL Bad Places. A shallow idea of "eternity". I would go to World World. I thought there was an obvious solution to her dilemma* but they went w the white nostalgia boomer track. Funnyish.

the only people whose hands are clean wrt the 2024 Presidential election are the billions who couldn't participate in it. you don't get to have clean hands in the USA. maybe someday. but meanwhile, this is the consequence of that guy winning. we knew beforehand. just too abstract for people I guess.
Blue state Governors are going to have to knit together some kind of coalition supporting continued flu shots, and other vaccines before these absolute lunatics kill everybody
If new proposals detailed in an FDA memo are put into place, experts told me it would mean the end of annual flu shots. And end of most vaccines for pregnant people. And maybe the end of updates to pneumonia vaccines. And more.

why are so many big nonprofits completely unable to deal with the cutting edge modern concept of a monthly donation? "Oh, well, to change that, you'll have to send a postcard to Martha out on the island, she manages all of that. Plus the sheep."

holy shit I didn’t check the # but it’s so emblematic of how Not Doing Well we are that the Biden rule is characterized in this article as “significantly” reducing climate emissions while also stating it‘s equivalent to taking 165,000 cars off the road…by 2050.

THE US HAS 280,000,000 CARS
The Trump administration is expected to announce a major weakening of automaker fuel economy standards tomorrow. The result is likely to be US automakers pulling even further back from their electrification plans, and those same automakers falling even further behind Chinese automakers on EV tech.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Tim Cook, the head of Apple, is having a nice dinner with MBS, who regularly orders executions, including for tweets.

Apple hosts "a Saudi app that allows men to track the movement of their wives and daughters. In 2019, Mr. Cook said he would investigate the app, but it is still available today."

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

The only way there's a chance that people will understand that is if those w audiences start saying it, now, repeatedly. No halfway. DHS has to go.

(Then do MedicareForAll & exorcise Joe Lieberman 100%)
If these people are ever thrown out of power, I hope we all understand there is no reformist pathway for institutions like this as much as Dems might desperately wish and claim there is.

They're not even Muslims!
"Legal experts point out that this effectively hands Trump the authority to unilaterally execute civilians who are not waging war against the United States in any recognizable sense."

Read that again, I had to.
Trump's illegal murders in the Caribbean just got worse. An internal DOJ memo on the bombings says the victims are waging war on the US, but per NYT, it extensively cites the WH's *own claims* to this effect as evidence!

It gets even darker than that. 1/
