do think it's a specific phenomenon though - when I interviewed a local GOP guy in South Carolina last year all he wanted to talk about was Tommy Robinson, and the New Jersey Republican woman I voxpopped last month was (racistly) obsessed with Sadiq Khan, it's all online rot I think
Can only conclude that the very online US commentators’ obsession with bashing the UK is the equivalent of a mental comforter to deflect from dealing with things closer to home.

Boris Johnson says the idea that criticism of the BBC is being organised by the right is ‘complete and utter bollocks’, which makes me think there might be something in it.

I like the Carry On films but the lore is too confusing, impossible for modern audiences to accept these people could play a major part in the French Revolution AND lose their bras on camping holidays

Personally I don’t think a member of the Bee Gees should be running the BBC. But it does explain why they are constantly showing the same few documentaries about Disco.

Last repost. I keep hearing rumours of "nearly everyone has gone back to Twitter" and seeing zero evidence for this. I've seen a few c**ts trying Bluesky getting blocked by everyone and quickly fucking off but that's not the same thing.

I have now been called a fool (and to my face, as it were, this time) for not joining the great return to Twitter. Apparently 'nearly everyone has gone back'.
One gets a better sort of being ignored here, I find.

Wearing my cultural historian wanker hat for a moment I’m finding it quite interesting how the continuity of James Bond is assumed to be necessary now when it never used to be.

I’m worried some of you aren’t taking these films about an impossible man seriously.

“The way you do faces is like your signature isn’t it?” Yes it’s definitely not because I find faces really hard.

Not sure why Amazon are seemingly stuck on how to revive Bond. He's essentially a Time Lord with a taste for assassination, so just change his face and tell whatever story you like.

Our designer David has a game called fantasy classics, where he chooses books he thinks should be published as classics. With him all this way on this one.
Look out for an episode of our Working Class Library podcast about it, featuring the great novelist and Mole fan David Nicholls, coming soon.

Some of the stray dogs living near Chernobyl have recently turned blue. This confused scientists for weeks, until they realized they had simply been rolling around in chemicals from a nearby set of portable toilets. 14/10 for all
