Whenever the Mets are playing well it makes me think of my dad and how much he enjoyed a winning Mets team. The first part of this season was great. Now I'm just glad he's not alive to see this shambolic mess.

American universities pretend to be centers of learning, wisdom and freedom, but the reality is that the University of Chicago has a $10.4 billion endowment today. In 2013, it had the highest-paid university president in America. He made $3.4 million a year. These are lucrative businesses first.

The University of Chicago, a world-class institution whose humanities faculty in the past has included Homi Bhabha & Lauren Berlant & Ralph Ellison & Hannah freaking Arendt, is getting rid of basically every graduate department involving the acknowledgment that other cultures & languages exist.

he thinks he’s a dictator and he wants to be a dictator but administrative capacity is not keeping pace with his ambitions
Honest question: Would it be fair to classify Trump as a dictator at this point? Because I feel like he’s in the Erdogan zone of most despotic technically not a dictator/least despotic dictator gray zone at the moment and the trend lines aren’t positive.
