In the Netherlands, over 40% of rail passengers arrive by bike. Since 2012 the country has invested €400m+ to add 200,000 new bike parking spaces at stations. The result? More rail use, fewer car trips, lower congestion and emissions, better public health - and far more efficient use of urban space.

We have VAT on energy bills and people this winter are choosing between heating and eating because it's such a difficult thing to afford, and a necessity. But if you fly on holiday, there's no VAT. So that's an example of how our tax system is regressive, those with the least contribute the most.

But rest assured it will happen again. Our gov is keen to make sure and have not changed a thing. System that caused this is still in place. Gov have explicitly refused to implement graduated licences. Too scared to limit drivers freedoms. @snp.org

Trigger warning.

“In crashes, SUVs are more likely to strike vital organs in the core of adults’ bodies & heads of children. Hitting pedestrians above their center of gravity means they’re more likely to be knocked forward & down and then be driven over.”

Plus more likely to hit in the 1st place.

Just about every elected official is a coward when it comes to street safety.

They're more afraid of angering a few drivers than they are of those drivers killing and maiming their own constituents.

It's pathetic and unforgivable. Vote out any local official who doesn't prioritize safe streets.
How many more deaths of people walking and biking will we tolerate before we make our streets safer?

This is a crisis throughout the East Bay - a woman was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing an Antioch street yesterday.

We need to rapidly transform our streets to slow cars and protect people.

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.
