Beavers are amazing creatures, in their own right, but when you look at the knock on benefits, the creation of habitats for all kinds of other creatures and the ability of those habitats to hold storm water - they really are a gift.

I’m not convinced this matters, above and beyond the obvious visual and not walking the walk. The grid is already nearly 50% green and if Ed’s plan works it won't matter in 5 years time whether you choose a green tariff or not, coz green will be the default.

Look past the name calling by Ukrainian officials, FIFA defo have issues - but, Russia and Israel should either both be banned or both allowed to play - both countries have invaded another and occupied it.

One head is enough. Appointing Mandelson knowing of his connections to Epstein is arguably a mistake - Morgan McSweeney has taken responsibility but the media in a feeding frenzy press for more. That’s wrong.

If I got this right, the sensitive souls that like to run foxes literally and metaphorically into the ground then watch them torn apart by hounds - find the presence of Chris Packham harassing….bless them.

Again the headline is not the story. Civil servants also predicted that gas prices could rise, massively. Truth is no one knows. What we can be certain of though is that the price of energy from our wind and sun will not change, won’t suddenly surge upward or crash.

This headline is unattached to the story, it might as well be in another country. Beavers are amazing, for wildlife and to prevent flooding - something of an increasing issue for 6m homes in Britain. The licensing system for their return is slow and expensive.

Two and a half million tonnes of water to make fake snow for the Winter Olympics - that’s the headline, the story is climate change.

Farage sold farmers (and fishermen) a lie, along with the rest of the country. Proof is in the numbers. Brexit did great harm. So when Farage rails against his latest faux enemy - net zero - and tells us we’re better off without it, let’s remember all the broken Brexit promises.

Drax knew what it was doing, it knew it was misleading the government and public - adds insult to injury I reckon. The injuries being environmental destruction and enormous profits from subsidies added to our energy bills.

Nice idea and has some merit, but it’s silly to compare Iceland’s 90% of homes heated this way with Britain’s situation (0.3%) - this is not a sign of the scale of the opportunity it’s a sign of the geological differences.

Incredible and outrageous.

Incredibly this rare, ancient 21 mile long chalk stream is officially a road. Outrageously it’s being used for 4x4 fun - destroying nature in the process.

Will anti wind energy, energy company Octopus publish this - or will they confine themselves to bleating about the cost of occasionally turning off windmills.

Big picture facts support what our Nature Minister says - given that the built environment (buildings and roads) is about 10% of our land area, even if we hit 300k new homes a year that’s just 1% of existing housing stock, and houses are a tiny % of the 10% built environment.

Interesting story, should be a warning to the plans of ‘geo engineering’ - Planetary scale interventions to absorb carbon emissions - like seeding the oceans. Our efforts to restore Ozone have created another problem.

He’s not wrong - our entire economic outlook and outcome - comes from nature. And that’s why we are currently fundamentally unsustainable, nature has finite limits, our planet is only so big.

This is an extraordinary story. Government’s normally invest to prevent the collapse of vital industries or to enable something risky to go ahead that can't otherwise be funded.

Reform has a new Mayoral candidate - and she’s singing from the same old song sheet. Telling us what Reform wants us to believe, not what’s actually happening. I mean otherwise (other than from Reform) where does she get her news from, not from these sources...

Israel accepts that it killed 70k people in Palestine, the overwhelming number of them were civilians. Does it still maintain that this was an act of self defence? Palestine has the highest rate of child amputees in the world - is this also part of that self defence?

Another real world experience and a shocking one. Heat pumps in new homes leave tenants cold and broke. It’s a fact that when it gets cold heat pumps struggle and if you turn up the water temperature their efficiency goes out the window. These homes were not built properly for heat pumps.
February 3, 2026 at 4:30 PM
The Times are wrong to claim heat pumps are miracles of science, denying the laws of thermodynamics - they’re just fridges working in reverse.

Despite Trump, despite the Net Zero Ninnies (Reform, the Tories) - the world of business votes with its cash. Green Tech is one of the most popular business opportunities on the planet, for a good reason.
