In last weeks budget Rachel Reeves axed the Eco scheme and knocked £1bn of the nation’s energy bills - with the other hand, in the same month - the cost of building a new nuke at Sizewell was added to our energy bills - it was also £1bn for the first year.

Big move in the budget to lower energy bills by £1bn a year - by scrapping the energy efficiency tax. It’s welcome. But it comes in the same month that a new tax was added to our energy bills - a nuclear tax to pay for Sizewell C - and it’s also £1bn. Kinda standing still aren’t we..:)

Babelfish - what’s it all about? I get into it with Aaron from Novara Media - our first edition is an expose of the Great Energy Rip Off and the enormous economic harm it does to the country. Read all about it@ babelfish.news

The ClusterMusk enters the lexicon, Dale and Reform agree about something, it’s worth a billion a year….the budget lands, COP30 resonates (is it a death rattle?) - and Babelfish hits the streets of London...

The Times are suffering confirmation bias - the Green economy is motoring on, it’s the only game in town actually - the new industrial revolution…..and Britain can be 100% powered by the wind and sun - and have lower bills.

Decent move - but why wait till 2029? Too many tax exemptions apply to pensions, it’s part of our regressive tax regime - the more money you have the more exemptions you get.

Even the OBR are leaking - half an hour before the Chancellor was due to unveil the ‘mansion tax’ - the OBR does it. Que Pasa?

A welcome move - gambling wrecks lives, the industry targets ‘problem gamblers’ and makes enormous annual profits - horse racing is an abusive industry - and should not have been exempted. But this is a start.

When will we extend fuel duty to the luxury of flying - and add VAT? We have both taxes applied to motorists - people going to work and about their daily lives, get taxed to the max. People flying round the word - nothing. It can’t be justified.
November 26, 2025 at 12:36 PM
Income tax thresholds should be higher, not frozen - this is a regressive tax increase, hitting lower earners most - we take money from people on minimum wage and then give them 'in work benefits' - there’s no sense in that.

Tice is right, Reform are right - Drax is the wrong thing to be spending public money on - plenty of people on the left and green sides of life have been saying this for years - it’s not new.

It’s not good news, but perhaps not surprising - those who’ve gained the most from the global economy are feeling less inclined to fund fixing it. The timing’s not good as the world heads for 2.6°C of warming - a level scientists call a “global disaster.” And the cause?

At the Conduit in London to support the Lift the Ban campaign. We ban asylum seekers from working, forcing them on benefits, which we then complain about. Bit silly, let them work. Take away this right wing talking point.

I agree with Gove (shock) that this is not the right thing to do - but it’s worth bearing in mind that the industry that has taken the vast majority of land aka ‘homes' from nature is not the housebuilding industry - it’s farming. And that’s driven by our food choice.

Smart move, grid scale energy storage is a vital part of the Smart Grid we need as we transition to a 100% green. It’s how we balance the huge fluctuations of both demand and production. And of course part of the green economy - that brings jobs, economic growth and lower bills.
