We white folks need to come right out and say, not just defund ICE, but ABOLISH ICE.

We should not have these jackbooted thugs abducting people off the streets and abusing them in illegal concentration camps.

I love this. I have hated that in the past few years it has felt like American flags are reserved for Republicans. Fuck that shit, this is our country too.
Y'all need to understand - there were a LOT of flags.

I don’t do the disability advocacy thing out loud as much anymore, but being at school this week had me thinking about the way well-meaning abled people move to help and what actually helps.

This is not shaming anyone. But I appreciate when folks who do instinctually help move intentionally. 🧵

There is a kind of mouse that has been bred over decades to be suitable for skin cancer research. They are *ridiculously* expensive. They're also living animals. You have to feed them and clean their enclosures and take care of them, or they die.
Biomedical research isn't a YouTube video, you cannot hit pause for an indefinite period of time and then hit play whenever the regime wants.

Samples are destroyed, labs dismantled, scientists leave...
Here's what this means: it's probably unlawful forPOTUS to stop NIH funds from going to medical research, but POTUS can stop that medical research for a lengthy period of time while the Court of Federal Claims hears lawsuits

This, essentially, destroys the capacity for medical research in the US

If we’re going to make any progress, we’ve got to quit engaging with the pretext. The DC invasion isn’t about crime, is about authoritarianism. Occupying LA isn’t about immigration, it’s about the racial hierarchy. Stop engaging with the phony pretext.
Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Disability is not a vacation.

It’s not like that time you took a week off sick from work.

It’s a 24/7 job. It’s unrelenting pain, fatigue and suffering.

It’s dealing with a medical system that ignores and gaslights you, a society that views you as expendable & people who resent you for existing

I'm really interested to see studies like this and with bigger sample numbers- how I describe my quick muscle fatigue to my PT is like: that lactic acid buildup feeling that I used to get after a long workout, I now get in my arms when I try to fold laundry for 30 seconds.
1) Spanish researchers exposed muscle cells to serum of ME/CFS and Long Covid patients and found:

- reduction in muscle contraction strength

- upregulation of genes involved in protein translation

- elevated oxygen consumption

when RFK says he wants to “end chronic disease,” what people hear is “he wants to cure us” but what he means is “i want to cull the weak”
Republicans are waging a generalized war on science, but I think many of them don’t fully grok that RFK isn’t at war with science alone or per se: he’s at war with sick people, and of the view that only the lucky should be allowed to survive into old age. They are know nothings, he is Mengele.
RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.

Today a doctor asked the question most disabled patients dread…

“What do you want ME to do about it?”

I wanted to scream:

Your job!
Help me!
Solve the problem!
Provide treatment!

But I didn’t. I remained calm. I avoided being “difficult”

I left with no answers 🧵
