American Brexit, in the sense that a lot of conservatives will regret these choices, assuming the Dems make it clear whose fault it is
271,000 people have lost their jobs and federal spending has ctually increased. So people get less services, while we added debt paying for private jets for Kristi Noem, bulletproof cars for Kash Patel. This is what the rust belt voters demanded.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

For years now, moderates have decried the division of identity politics of Democrats, ignoring of course that the Republican Party was defined by identity politics itself — the identity of whiteness. Now that it’s explicit the inability to call it out and to cover it aptly is starkly disappointing.

The culture tells us if we listen. One of my fav movies, Dead Presidents, is about a Black vet in the 70’s who comes home from Vietnam only to find a recession. To make ends meet, he and some like minded brothers/sisters decide to rob a bank to get their payday
not that the present economic picture is rosy, but i do think that popular culture — and specifically nostalgia bait television — is a big part of the reason that our public memory of the 1970s, 1980s and even 1990s seems to miss the real economic pain that marked each of those decades.

I believe this. When white folks, who were in the wrong btw, having their cows graze on lands that didn’t belong to them, quite literally had a standoff with the feds and the feds were like, “You right, you right” and left, I knew we were in trouble
The Bundy occupation at Malheur in early 2016 (and the lack of consequences they faced for it) was a sign of what was to come. Right wing white anti-government vigilantes cast as “patriots.”
NEW: Tina Peters is rejecting a J6er's call to storm a Colorado prison and free her.

Peters is distancing herself from the jailbreak scheme and violent actions after allies and her attorney talked about using force or violence to free her and punish those keeping her in prison.

The “failed to get into the military/LE” villain story and “failed to get into tech” villain story are the same story.
This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants

Bingo.
the balance hasn't remained constant, but people have long wrongly seen the NYT as a liberal publication that feels the need to bend over backwards for conservatives to fight bias charges, when in fact it's a conservative publication aimed at convincing liberals. they're more open about that now

Yeah…
it is so funny we’re back at square one with the streaming services. brief moment of low cost/high budget tv was just the product of another VC cash pit.
A basic cable package being $83 a month through YouTube is fucking insane

Ehh…I think there’s a little “what else you got” coming from the youth. The screens can only add so many more pixels, and can only get so thin.

I think the retro movement will stay, if only because price gouging via streaming won’t stop.

Let’s also note that the Centrists in the Dem party endorsed him over a Progressive, and he’s also one of the few Pro Life Dems (I’m sure that won’t matter in close votes), oh, and he was also pocketing money from Corpos.

I was wondering if DJT would pardon any Democrats though

Played the first Metroid Prime in…late high school/early college? Can’t remember. But I hated the isolated, all alone feel. I wanted more of a Zelda-here’s some hubs and side characters, then when ready you go off on your own.

Don’t realize that hardcore Metroid fans like the isolation

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an excellent, if relatively uneven, revival that reaches heights worthy of the Metroid name in its best moments.
