This is so so disturbing. Trump is now pardoning January 6th rioters for unrelated crimes, just to reward them for their violence to keep him in power.

The Republican Party is in the full time business of endorsing and incentivizing political violence. So scary.

Just finished By the Fire We Carry by @rebeccanagle.bsky.social . It's been a long time since I've read such an engaging work of literary nonfiction. An enlightening & gripping narrative. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history & current state of Native American sovereignty.

10 months in and we're getting drunk SS members asking local cops if they're Haitian
An ICE agent, who is being arrested for drunk driving and nearly killing his little kids & others, tries to stop the arrest by racially profiling the officers arresting him. Amazing to watch the courtesy given to him as he is belligerent and uncooperative

I still don't understand how a person like Trump, a man who often says people are "kissing his ass" and "brown-nosing" because of his power, is still so open to manipulation by anyone who strokes his ego. Can someone explain it? Is it that he recognizes the power of flattery because it works on him?

Failed experiment? The religiously unaffiliated — often called “nones” — have surged from 6% in 1990 to nearly 30% today. In that time the gender pay gap has declined, same-sex marriages were legalized, millions of of people (especially children) gained health insurance. Failed?

Red states accused the Biden administration of "jawboning" -- coercing social media platforms to "censor" content (mostly COVID misinformation), merely by liaising and flagging false content for those companies. Now the FCC *explicitly threatens* a network over content but that's all good?

This is a better explanation and coverage on the dark side of gaming and online culture than most mainstream media orgs have.

Because for years, mainstream media ignored / disbanded their gaming culture coverage.
I understand some of you don't have TikTok, but if you do, know that the explanation below is the best I've seen of what lay behind the Kirk assassination.

Robinson is an alt-right nihilist, but in a way that's hard for many to understand.

I think Aidan says what I want to say better than I could.
It was a shitpost. Check out Know Your Meme for more of the history on it, or john ganz, or my newsletter #kirk #owo

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.
