Got a nice little write-up about my antisemitism lecture in Sweden (though I was surprised that they used Mamdani as a hook, as that was not really my focus at all -- he only came up in Q&A).

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.
So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

The thing you have to understand about Republicans is that they love to call American Jews stupid, dangerous, despicable, threatening, etc. That's because they hate American Jews.

I really wish we could make the necessary and important point about how much hateful Islamophobia is being directed at Mamdani without saying, "Actors could never get away with saying it about the Jews!"
Because, you know, Mel Gibson still gets plenty of work.

The interview @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social did with JTA is really interesting reading.
On the plus side, there’s a core empathy there, including for those “skeptical” of him, that’s really refreshing to see. That sort of openness should be rewarded, not punished.

I think I may have a couple of Swedish followers?
Anyway, if you happen to be in Stockholm this week, I'm keynoting the Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism's annual conference on Wednesday (9:45 AM).
