This does not feel like something I should be proud of.

Fun discovery of the day: Nathaniel is INTO limes.

A little tanginess won’t stop him!

If I were Susan Collins' press secretary, I'd fit her with a shock collar set to go off if she ever uttered the word "concerned".

The tagline of my blog has been, since I first started in academia, “I’m a professor! Why isn’t anybody listening to me?”

Pointless grouse of the day: I’m annoyed that “Jurassic Bark” has some of the funniest lines in all of Futurama, because obviously I’ll never watch it again.

“I want a voracious reader,” he said. “I hope my baby devours books,” he said.

It’s going to be a maze!

Well, even if we can’t make it downtown, we can still sit in our front yard! #NoKings #PortlandStrong

Jill is sick, we have a baby, and to be honest I hate crowds and never felt comfortable at a protest. So I'll just repost my protest slogan painting in good #NoKings virtual solidarity.

I won't pretend it's equivalent to hitting the streets, but every little bit helps.

The car in front of me at the stop sign is the coolest.

Scene from #wartornPortland yesterday. As you can see, things have gotten so dire that even our babies are being trained in amphibious operations.

Thrawn bleeding out after being stabbed by Rukh: “But … it was so artistically done!”

(There are maybe 20 people on this site who will get this reference and they are by definition the best people)

It looks like they now have this separate “warning” category for schools like Liberty, whom they are grading (on a separate scale?) but not ranking.

I had never seen this passage from Orwell on the sort of person who very abstractly adores political violence—often from the safety of a polity where such violence is significantly contained—and it is resonant and brilliant.

They say democracy doesn't come cheap, but they never saw the 30% off flyer on my book.

How does the Trump admin plan to deal with indicators suggesting the economy is running out of gas? I’m glad you asked!
September 5, 2025 at 10:35 PM
Someone replied to my latest Nathaniel update post with a succinct "Free Palestine". That itself is, sadly, not notable -- people hitting Jews with "Free Palestine" in response to anodyne updates on their lives is hardly limited to me.

But looking over their profile -- this has to be a bit, right?
