What about the suicide rates among young men? Here’s a graph comparing the percentage of U.S. men and women who reported serious thoughts of suicide in the past year from 1975 to 2025. Women consistently report higher rates of suicidal ideation and both have increased at the same rate over time.

The solution to the purported crisis among young men is not to re-adopt old notions of masculinity, is it? Think about child-rearing. When I was leaving college in the early 1990's the story was burgeoning equality. Gen X, this will not be like the nuclear family you were raised in. Check the data.

Failed experiment? The religiously unaffiliated — often called “nones” — have surged from 6% in 1990 to nearly 30% today. In that time the gender pay gap has declined, same-sex marriages were legalized, millions of of people (especially children) gained health insurance. Failed?

That's the thing though: she flipped that district because the woman who held the seat 12 years before her was the right of center version (one of 10 GOP who voted to impeach Trump after 1/7) who MAGA Kent beat in the primary. MGP lands exactly where you'd expect. I'd still take her over Kent.

Yeah, this really jumped out at me. If the numbers are right, in 2024 Trump did even better with uneducated/uninformed voters than he did in 16. If you think about the nonsense Trump and MAGA pols mix in with their actual platform--conspiracy theories, myths, etc.--this makes sense.
