How does it feel about brooms?

Yup! I hope this doesn’t sound mean/vain/arrogant, but…I find a lot of human-generated writing and speaking also merely mimics intelligent behavior.

Does he think we forgot that he was fired from The New Yorker for sexual misconduct? Also: Lizza was fired with these charges Dec 11, 2017 and Nuzzi started dating him publicly in January 2018. That’s something.

It’s gross enough that he feels the need to pile on at all, but to do it to his ex is petty and to do it to his ex who was decades younger than him is loathsome.

At the time I remember Steven Pinker and a handful of others defended him. Not a surprise then that Pinker helped in Epstein’s defense as well. www.insidehighered.com/news/2019/07...

AI tools are surprisingly good at this so far. I'm sure NYT and others are finding all sorts of stuff. I'm trying to wrap my head around why the GOP would have dropped all of this out there. Do they think the fact that there are so many guilty parties that Trump will get a pass?

Wow. The size and scope of this network of creeps is extraordinary. I was searching for something else and found this exchange. He donates to their enterprise and they connect him to young women. This must have been Barbro Ehnbom. www.etc.se/inrikes/epst...

Agree: most orgs *can* retrieve your emails if needed, but they are not reading them willy nilly without cause. I suppose this may change in the AI-addled near future, but for now it is done to suss out a legal or HR issue that was brought forward first. & also, don't email stuff you want hidden.

Sad to say that I heard something very close to that about the deaths from COVID: they were sick already, overweight, didn't take care of themselves, were so old they were going to die anyway. I don't think the word rationalization even covers this kind of distorted, cruel thinking.

What about the suicide rates among young men? Here’s a graph comparing the percentage of U.S. men and women who reported serious thoughts of suicide in the past year from 1975 to 2025. Women consistently report higher rates of suicidal ideation and both have increased at the same rate over time.

The solution to the purported crisis among young men is not to re-adopt old notions of masculinity, is it? Think about child-rearing. When I was leaving college in the early 1990's the story was burgeoning equality. Gen X, this will not be like the nuclear family you were raised in. Check the data.

I'm sorry to barge into this, but as a male myself, a father of a male teen, and a person who thinks about this quite a bit, I don't think that was what @barbbanfieldrn.bsky.social was saying--at least that isn't how I read it. What is masculine or feminine has changed across time and cultures.

I think about this when I see people on "the left" saying things about "White people" as if being born with lighter skin means you are to be assumed to be...all the bad things we on the left are fighting against. Often it comes from lighter skinned folks. I know the arguments, but it is reductive.

Heated moment in the SCOTUS 4th floor kitchen last Donut Thursday: Kav clashed with Gorsuch & Jackson over Trump tariffs—realized only Alito & Thomas backed him. He muttered an expletive, grabbed 3 maple bars, and stormed off. Support staff pretended not to notice. Gorsuch said: That dude is an ass.

This sets my mind at ease a bit. I hope you are right. I don’t know jack about being a mayor. I’ve been a manager of people for over 25 years and I’m still learning. So “learning on the job” is not the put-down they think it is. But I am a worrier.

I do think Amazon firing people amidst insane profits is the nail in the coffin of this election. I support Wilson, but worry a lot that she has less managerial experience than the kid running the shift at Dick’s Drive-In.

When I have experiences like that (not cancer—I wish you all the best as you beat it) I wonder how the heck people with less knowledge/education than you handle it. We need math&science sherpas to help folks make sense of complicated things. We have financial counselors/billing specialists instead.

Telugu and I assume English. But they were a Telugu speaking household and Usha Vance is fluent. Her husband speaks Racist. He learned Egalitarian at Yale, but no longer uses it. Just Racist now.

Exactly! My mother gave birth to me on the same weekend (in the same hospital) as her niece gave birth to her own son. Her niece is technically my first cousin, but I always called her Aunt Peg. My kids call my best friend since childhood, Uncle Don. This is very common in my Irish/French family.
