Hey folks- if you’re new to BlueSky PLEASE watch this video and learn how to use it.

This is not Twitter. There isn’t really an algorithm. Use lists, feeds, and tags to get shown in feeds or you really are shouting into the void!

Have conversations, follow people, and reshare things you like!
It's up!!!! My Explainer video for BlueSky beginners.

I cover how to find your Twitter followers, Starter Packs, Feeds, Lists, some handy-dandy tools, and BlueSky etiquette.

Please watch and/or share with any newbies you know. I think it's helpful.

If you’ve never ground up allspice berries (or any other whole spices) in a mortar and pestle I suggest you get right on that and stick your face in it.

… and also you pay for it. And somebody paid for everything it’s made with.
That argument about the right to art is so insane to me.

If you order a sandwich, you have a right to a sandwich, but you don’t pretend you made it?

Device…hoarding. Because you don’t go get a new one while yours is still fine.

Apparently I am also practicing car hoarding, house hoarding, husband hoarding, dog hoarding, computer hoarding, furniture hoarding and art hoarding.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

Pie crusts are chilling. It’s my grandmother’s recipe- might have been her mother’s? Which would put it early 1900s.

3 c of flour
Heavy pinch of salt
3/4 c shortening
1 egg
1T apple cider vinegar
5-6 T COLD water

So much this! Last time I was home I scanned every handwritten recipe I had time for. I honestly need to do more the next time I go back.
Family cookbooks, filled with handwritten notes, sometimes held together with rubber bands, tell the story of generations of homemakers. They are irreplaceable treasures.

This is honestly why I want an Irish wolfhound. So they can make everyone’s day everywhere we go. It’s like meeting a unicorn.
You haven't lived 'til you've seen the shock and then joy on the face of an overnight desk clerk at a Hyatt Place on a ring road in San Antonio when this fellow strolls through the lobby at 4 am on the way to answer nature's call.

It’s a bear. Finding the right rendering style for the fur took me a while, but I‘m so happy how it turned out.

It’s one of the patreon stickers for this month and will also be a print later.

So, real talk. The imposter syndrome never really goes away either, it's like an old chronic injury that flares up again and gets really bad at certain times of the year, or if you've strained yourself. It creeps back when you don't expect it, and it's hard not to hear that little voice get louder.
Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

Dishes and pies and physical therapy, today.

Trying to decide if I’m going to do two pumpkin pies, or do the second pie custard or blueberry.

Well PT is making me feel like a fraud. Exercises have barely managed to get me to the point I feel sore the next day, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m not in a flare or if we’re not pushing enough. Bleh.

Well, it’s a start. Infuriatng that federal agents have to be ordered to follow the law. I assume ICE will be in contempt within hours, because those oppositional defiant nitwits have never followed a real order, but contempt means consequences.

Federal judge orders ICE agents in Colorado to follow law, stop ‘pattern’ of illegal arrests
The 66-page decision came three weeks after four immigrants testified that ICE agents had arrested them without warrants and without first checking to see whether they were likely to flee.

Our living room is so challenging. Only source of light that isn’t plugged into a wall is what used to be a door outside but is now a sliding glass door to the sunroom. Second wall is the fireplace. Third wall is the utility space access and stairs. 4th wall is a bar/hallway.
