I used to just post about safe streets, but there's a lot going on right now. I'm worried about the climate, growing fascism, injustice, and my friends in Palestine. Also will be giving my observations of the US after living in Greece for 10 months.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I mean it's not this simple but a handful of policy elites really did drastically reengineer our urban fabric in ways that were popular in the immediate term and created massive social dysfunction beyond that.
Because a lot of leftists/progressives have pseudo conspiratorial models of reality where they think the only reason Americans live in suburbs is bc GM tore up the streetcar lines in LA etc.

These sorts of things annoy me.

Eversource is doing a good thing _here_, however people struggled with bills last winter because Eversource price gouged its customers via “delivery” fees.

They are not saviors, they contributed to food insecurity and will eagerly hike prices again when allowed.

Extreme wealth allows people to live in such a way that they only ever have to interact with others who cater to them.

That kind of king-of-my-castle existence breeds a sense of entitlement that quickly turns to hostility when wealthy people face even the slightest of pushback.
"When an off-camera female reporter... began to ask if there was anything 'incriminating' in the Epstein emails, Trump pointed a finger in her face. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy,' he said menacingly."

Tell me again how it's women who are ruining the workplace?

Oof. This is gorgeous piece of writing.

"Words cannot keep up with what happens here. Language always follows loss. Still, I write, because forgetting is another kind of death. Writing does not save anyone; it only makes absence visible. It says, 'We existed.' It says, 'We tried.'"

In Gaza, language is insufficient to describe the magnitude of our loss, but I write anyway.

Important to understand the issues but also the cost burden implications
🐟Watch our Resolution on sewage overflows here👇

Cities across MA are being put in an impossible position: asked to build infrastructure that doesn’t solve the sewage problem, at costs that local residents can’t afford. We need the MWRA to help fund & design regional stormwater & infrastructure

A lot of displaced people in Gaza are having a really difficult time because of the awful weather flooding and/or damaging their tents.

Please consider supporting a family from the thread below if you can!
I usually share a new Palestinian account every day but today I am going to do a thread of people I’ve already verified impacted by the recent flooding in Gaza. If you can help any of these families- many who lost everything again- please do. edition.cnn.com/2025/11/14/m...

emerging reports about possibly imminent US military attack on venezuela. there can be no doubt about it, certainly not in the coverage: such an attack would be an act of aggression, lacking any basis in international law. we'll get sophistic arguments about self-defense but none will be legit.

I will describe this in the alt-text but this picture is worth a thousand words. It's Gaza, on its side from the usual angle. It's just full of waste. How can 2 million people live in this 141 square miles, an area a little larger than Manhattan, in so much ruined infrastructure?
