![Tunheim ordered the rescission memo to be turned over by February 12. Although initially ordered to be submitted under seal, Law Dork is seeking to intervene in the case and one of Law Dork’s requests was to lift the sealing. Before ruling on the intervention request, on Thursday, Tunheim nonetheless lifted the sealing order, ordering instead that “[s]uch documents shall be filed but not under seal.“
As such, the government filed the documents — not under seal — on Thursday night. Massachusetts faces a moral test right now. We should not accept collusion with ICE at any level. Governor Healey must be clear-eyed about the cruelty and degradation being inflicted on our neighbors and refuse to be complicit.
Massachusetts is the only state run by Democrats that still partners with ICE. I dug into this and found that it’s had profound and very troubling consequences: at least 164 people funneled straight from state prisons to ICE since 2023 alone.

The technology exists to do all of these things. A main problem is that utilities don't want to use distribution grids more efficiently or avoid building them out. Buildout is the main way their shareholders profit. Utility regulators - governor-appointed or elected civil servants - could fix this.

While I am sorry to hear that the Allied cemeteries in Gaza have been partially demolished by the Israeli military, I am glad to see that the Guardian was able to talk to Essam Jaradah, a former caretaker who was not evacuated to Egypt with the current CWGC staff.
