Rent stability is essential in a market where the rent prices have become untethered from what the community can afford. We need to build more housing, but if the majority of housing is owned by large corporations, it will never be affordable. Housing policy has to confront power, not just supply.
Howdy - I recently worked with a group of tenants whose building was just bought by a corporate landlord, who immediately raised the rent to levels that would displace ~everyone. We met together with new landlord - one tenant was a pre-school teacher whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack 1/

This needs some national attention. It’s one of *the* examples of allowing people to be killed when an elected says they right things the majority of the time — and people will look away to preserve their jobs, contracts, and (frankly) ease in which they move in a city.
