So yes, I will obviously be talking about Elon’s dumbass lawsuit against Media Matters. @akivamcohen.bsky.social and @questauthority.bsky.social have already done great threads on it but I am gonna talk about anyway.

But first, I want to talk about Up Goer Five.

Game devs are tired. Writers are tired. Comic book creators are tired. Musicians are tired. Actors are tired. Every industry that produces media you love has been ravaged by a parasitic executive class who want to starve creators to feed some shitcunt's desire for a seventh house

Absolutely terrifying: state-funded researchers in Poland have developed the first-ever lab tests that can detect if a person has taken abortion pills, and prosecutors have used them to investigate pregnancy outcomes. The tests work for both mifepristone and misoprostol.

The chilling development comes out of Poland, where prosecutors have already used the tests to investigate pregnancy outcomes.

Something powerful someone shared a while back that transformed my mindset: If you notice you spend inordinate time online angry, upset, or unhappy... find something to agree with. Set aside disagreeing except where you must since it rarely does much, and find people and ideas you can support.

I'm working on some art for a new Kickstarter. It's a very cool ship-making toolkit for rigs and tabletop games, for players or GMs.

There's going to be a lot of cool stuff included, so go follow the KS for updates.

an example of systemic racism/sexism and how its invisibility perpetuates and protects it:

decades of Rolling Stone, controlled by this guy, who honestly just said straight out that Black artists and women artists weren't interviewed because they weren't smart enough to be interesting

*decades.*
the Marchese NYT interview of Jann Wenner is just brutal. You can see how Wenner has never been challenged on any of his beliefs, no matter how ignorant, in half a century; he has no idea what to do but hang himself more with his own rope www.nytimes.com/2023/09/15/a...

Hey I have a journal prompt if you'd like it

open a blank page. title it "100 things I would like to begin."

start writing, don't stop, don't judge your ideas, repeated ideas are okay, don't stop until 100

don't be mean if you have wanted to start some of these for years

now put it away; done
hey do you remember when I was talking about how journaling is so helpful and I should do it more often and all that?

I have a prompt that i'm doing today, and i thought i would share.

what is my best case scenario: the most positive result of my current endeavers? no undercutting with jokes, pls.

(1/13) Do you know Geena Davis? This is Geena Davis. She's, in my opinion, the most impressive actress alive and not because of the excellent roles she played... but because of the one role that changed the direction of her life. Geena Davis started her career in the classic Tootsie as April Page.

“I’m sorry that happened to you” is such a powerful phrase, especially if you don’t know what else to say. I know we’ve really normalized goofy awkward “idk what to say when people are emotional” stuff but this simple empathy does a lot of work and is so much better at making people feel heard.
Just so you know, if someone says, "This happened to me and it sucked." And that thing didn't happen to you? You can just say, "I'm sorry that happened to you." You don't have to qualify it with, "That never happened to me."

I've seen this like three times today. Usually, men to women.

one of the most corrosive habits of online dunk culture is making it imperative that everyone be correct at all times and making it harder to be like "oh shit i didn't know that" and then change your mind, which is something that is normal, healthy, and good, imo.
its perfectly okay to change your position on something when you receive new information
