Just saw a farm truck with a decal of an American flag that said "You cannot cancel all of us" in a rural Kansas town of 187 people.

A few reminders about the SCOTUS immunity decision for Presidents:

It does not provide immunity for prior crimes.

It does not provide immunity to the President's cabinet.

Similar to Roe v. Wade, it can be overturned in the future.

Now seems like a swell time to point out that Frontline just released this excellent 11-minute mini-documentary about what happened inside CECOT.

Only Russia and its supporters can claim that Western sanctions strengthen Russia and hurt the West, while simultaneously asking the West to remove them.

They are the biggest idiots and hypocrites out there

This is a very astute observation. I hadn't thought about Keith Kellogg, he just disappeared from the scene. It makes perfect sense that Putin would want to fainthearted guy like Witkoff doing the negotiations. 🗽

The story is insane. The acting head of cyber security, a Noem crony, repeatedly demanded to see highly classified information he didn’t need access to, and when staff set up a lie detector test as a condition to grant him access, he failed it. So DHS suspended the staffers.

I know that nights like tonight can feel frustrating — and they are, in fact, bad — but, I also do think that nights like this show us how many people are still striving to do good journalism with accountability at its core.

And how clear it is when there are efforts to stop that journalism.

So, is this correct ?
It’s now ok to infiltrate a tv channel and pull whatever the administration dislikes and pull possible unfavorable stories.

But when another administration “asks” to have misinformation and stolen revenge porn taken down

That’s “censorship”?

Bari Weiss spiked the CECOT story because she wanted to have Stephen Miller included and demanded to control the language 60 Minutes used to describe the men who were brutally tortured after being sent to El Salvador without due process.

What is striking here, of course, is that no one was apologizing for being white at any point, outside of some very unusual academic hothouse environments.

What the experience as 'apologizing for being white' is actually just 'accommodating non-white people living as full citizens and equals.'

What really depresses me about the news industry is how many people in positions of power seem to hold the core values of journalism in contempt.
“When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of ‘gold standard’ reputation for a single week of political quiet.”

Worth noting, I guess, that inside of a year we've gone from administration officials taking selfies of themselves at CECOT and bragging about how it's hell on earth to now getting their horrible little media worms to kill stories about it

I have never, once in my career, heard of a news org responding to a decline-to-comment with, “Well, we’ll hold it until you do.”

The reason is obvious — it gives the subject of your story a pocket veto.
