I recently remembered Joe Frank and now it's kinda all I think about. That & D&D. & the Portland Timbers and soccer broadly. And books. & gardening & cooking. Work at SAG-AFTRA. He/him.

During Orange Interregnum 1 I wrote http://trimptromptrump.com
Friendly reminder that make-brain-work juice is available in multiple other formats.
Starbucks can end this today: bargain in good faith, resolve unfair labor practices, and stop the union-busting.

Until then, workers are holding the line! #NoCoffeeNoContract

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Don’t break the picket line!
BREAKING: Starbucks workers have launched a massive, nationwide strike.

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Will's on a low engagement farming list that I subscribe to so I'm also muting his name to clear out the crashout reporting, as I cannot establish any context and Will crashing out is never news.

I'm not surprised that no journalist has bothered searching for very memorable and unusual phrases from the most recent chatgpt-induced suicide chats, to find out where those phrases were stolen from.

Because they are not good at their jobs.
The funniest thing about how absolute dogshit journalists are at their job, is that when you see a chatbot regurgitate strange sounding phrases the *only way it could do so* is by having stolen them from somewhere.

Searching for those weird phrases, yields the source the chatbot stole.
Google Gemini doesn’t appear to be doing too well:

‘"I am a disgrace to this planet. I am a disgrace to this universe. I am a disgrace to all universes . . . I am a disgrace to all possible and impossible universes and all that is not a universe," the bot continued.’

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵
