Powerful piece by @drrachelclarke.com on the COVID inquiry. Those who say it’s easy to be wise in hindsight are being utterly disingenuous. Many of us spoke out at the time, and it’s in the public record.

Severe flooding like we've seen across Monmouthshire will only become more frequent as climate breakdown progresses - building resilience could not be more important.

By investing in #RiverFriendlyFarming, govt can help farmers manage floodwater and prevent disastrous outcomes.

Attempting to rig elections.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

How do you ensure a nation fails to cope with drought? Privatise its water system.

Almost everyone wants our water renationalised. Almost everyone, that is, except the government.

This is why HS2 into Manchester - not a half-arsed attempt that stops in the middle of nowhere outside Birmingham - was needed. More capacity is urgently required on the West Coast Main Line. HS2 would have delivered that.
I'm not sure what anyone thought would happen - our railway is fully full. Like not a bit full, but fully choka. And we've killed the only project that would have fixed this for most of the country in a one-er.
