As many have caught on, the pixel art part of the art is meant to be a reference to the time manipulating aspect of the legendary, and I'm glad a last minute decision made such an impression !

I distorted the background in a similar way as Giratina bends the pillars back in Platinum, though in hindsight, it would have been cool to see inverted colors to represent the distortion world

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.
tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.
