incalculable rage may very well be the sole emotion that keeps me alive through the next few years
Here's one of the main reasons why I'm 100% sure AI is in a bubble, regardless of any potential "success" it has in the next 6-12 months.

Right now the majority of AI "success" at scale has been found in AI coding tools for software engineers.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I wrote a whole essay about this last November disguised as a review of the film Sicario (2015)

it’s moments like today that make it really clear that it was imperative for zohran mamdani to oust andrew cuomo and prevent all these republican-lites from controlling anything

Interesting that NY gov Kathy Hochul felt compelled to put out a statement against Dems' deal to end the shutdown

It was harder getting endorsements for Zohran Mamdani from Democrats than them caving to Republicans to mutually strip us of healthcare

for people new to team f*ck chuck 🤬 i would like to point out that he all but admitted he voted for cuomo over mamdani just a few days ago!

i really need someone to explain to me how any possible future in america doesn’t follow one of two paths now:

- insurance price hikes plus work requirements plus increasing discrimination de facto ends trans healthcare

- partial aca subsidies are traded for the explicit end of trans healthcare

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)

I don’t think I’ll get over how this is probably the literal worst outcome possible from the shutdown, and it’s entirely from the Senate Democrats own choice

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead
November 10, 2025 at 3:18 AM
so basically, no matter what happens now, trans healthcare will be ripped from the aca, and private insurers will follow soon-after? is there any way this doesn’t happen at this point?
November 10, 2025 at 2:28 AM
oh fuck.

Letting them have a vote like that is, from the Dem tactical perspective, worse than both actually getting the ACA extension but also simply failing to get it. There's no benefit in letting some Rs off the hook with a "well I voted for it" on a purely performative gesture.

I don't think it's cowardice. I think that they are OK with what the GOP is doing. The sooner folks reconcile with this, the better.

The Senate has reached a deal to fund the government through January 30 and delay a vote on an Affordable Care Act bill until December. A source tells CNN there are enough Senate Democrats to advance the plan and end the 40-day government shutdown.

even if they’re really dumb enough to cave, the amount of real-time rage being generated at the dem leadership is inspiring.

if the democracy stays conscious just long enough for another election we’re going to get 10,000 zohrans in every city, every state, and also the white house.

Its peak "we can use this vote against them in an election" brain
Claiming that getting a vote destined to fail as a win is an insult to everyone’s intelligence
Here's the full text of the deal:
- House CR extended to January 30, no RIFs permitted until then
- Minibus
- Ds get a filibusterable ACA vote in December
