The NZ public should not have to petition or lobby the government to enforce actionable consequences for politicians who shamelessly spread DISINFORMATION or BIGOTED ABUSE. FACTS & RESPECT should be mandatory for anybody in public service. Human decency should not be this fucking difficult! #nzpol

Here's the reality this example illustrates:
It's not even just about people blindly trusting what ChatGPT tells them. LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).

This is my position. I can’t believe they’re continuing to use this excuse when the “culture war” has already led to legislation being used to directly contravene the human rights of trans people. Lab wanting to follow and not lead *is* putting kids at risk.
Hipkins response to me was basically, "we absolutely support trans people & will reverse it, but we don't want to start a culture war that would put trans kids at risk."

We don’t need blanket bans for under-16s. We need:
• a regulator
• enforceable duties of care
• penalties for platforms who ignore NZ law
