My ride home last night put me over my goal of 5,000 kms for the year and well past last year’s total of over 4,200. Very happy about that and still more riding to do in 2025! #yycbike

Free Speech!*

*unless they say mean things about us, then lock them up
It really is bizarre to me that every single member of GOP House leadership & the admin has decided their coordinated talking point this week is that the No Kings demonstrations this Sat are essentially acts of domestic terrorism. Are they that afraid of free & peaceful assembly?

Evan Lee, a high school student, finds the courage to ask a relevant and intelligent question, backed by data, in a public forum.

Instead of the UCP celebrating youth engagement, he's tone-policed, told his question doesn't make sense (b/c they cut his mic), and they suggest he needs a spanking.
At tonight’s “consultation”…

When a high school kid tried to raise concerns about the teachers strike, Bruce McAllister cut the kids mic and then suggested his parents should have beaten him more.

Listen to the clip yourself…

It’s…

Telling.

"Montréal is often hailed as the most “biking-friendly” city in North America. But our research has found that only 2.3 per cent of the city’s roadways are allocated to bike infrastructure, with car infrastructure occupying the remaining 97.7 per cent of road space." #yycbike
Montréal’s bike infrastructure hardly takes up any space from cars on city roads
Bike infrastructure in Montréal takes up less than three per cent of the roadway, while car infrastructure has more than 90 per cent of roads across the city.

“We can’t all be expected to bike.”

Fair. But that’s not the point.

“Not everyone can or wants to bike. But some people can & do—and they deserve a safe, efficient, affordable way to move through the city. It’s about freedom of choice.”

The Glebe, my neighbourhood in Ottawa, is not the sort of place one expects to see a cybertruck. This one was immediately ticketed by Ottawa bylaw, presumably for crimes against civility. A lady passing by called across the street to the bylaw officer, “Give it two tickets!”

Our client was cycling outside of Ottawa, next thing he knew he was in the ER w major injuries. @ottawapolice.bsky.social interviewed the driver (not our client) who said our client came up from behind & cut in front of her at an intersection. Their report blamed the cyclist for the crash 1/3

So Calgary can't have bike lanes because car capacity, but we need commuter rail lines everywhere cuz we can't keep widening highways forever? Also, the UCP suddenly remembers lowering emissions is a good thing when talking rail only. My head hurts. (far better read than that other guy). #yycbike
