This is the same asshole that arrested me at Brotex. Out there racking up those FTCA complaints…
If I pointed a loaded assault rifle at someone in the street with the obvious intent of intimidating them, I would be arrested and charged with assault (or worse).

there's that now-famous internet line about how climate change means watching clips of climate disasters on people's phones until you're the one filming it, and it feels like there's some parallel about watching fascist deportation goon squad videos until it's filmed on the streets you recognize

anyone claiming DOGE was a failure or that it was not effective is lying to your face and trying to build an narrative, not being honest. Doge exceeded all expectations for exactly what it was designed to do which is destroy the bureaucratic state and capture trillions of dollars in data.

re: roblox dude's interview crashout. the thing he wants to say but can't is "at scale, kids are gonna get hurt. that is the price for scale." the thing nobody wants to say out loud is "maybe scaling to a level where harm isn't manageable is bad, and scale should be contained"

Another example relevant to Rethinking I-94 of how removing roads doesn't lead to complete gridlock because people adapt by taking fewer trips, with no negative impact on the economy. @mndot.mn.gov uses traffic models that don't readily allow for this possibility of traffic evaporation.

Hmmm, I twas to be an architect. Got to school, flunked first semester. Dragged through another 4 years but ran out of money. Bussed tables, then server/ bartender. Creative knowledge and general wits led me to design a full build out for a local hospitality company.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

I have largely gotten over the American insistence on not asking for help. It's dumb, it's inefficient, and it's wildly counterintuitive to human nature - we're not meant to function as standalone individuals (and almost never do, in reality).

So when I need help, I almost always will ask for it.

At the mcad art sale today I turned a corner and saw a painting of a shirtless man in a towel. My immediate reaction was "is that Columbo?"

Dear reader it was indeed a picture of Peter falk. Shirtless.

The Epstein scandal has reached that tipping point where material is coming out from multiple sources at different times.

Like Watergate, there’s no way to shut it all off anymore.

There is absolutely nothing old or consolidated about *multiracial, pluralistic democracy* in America. It only started 60 years ago.

And the conflict over whether or not it should be allowed to endure and prosper has been the central fault line in U.S. politics ever since.

This is a 19-paragraph article to which 7 journalists contributed; it contains not a single hint that there is any impropriety in the President of the United States directing the Justice Department to investigate his political adversaries.
