The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Watching Quantum of Solace and it occurs to me that a perfectly logical way to reboot the whole franchise is to do essentially the same plots but Bond is the villain. A dangerous sociopath in the style of Ripley… #Bond

An important life skill to develop is the ability to not have an opinion on a thing.

This is because there are many things which it is not necessary for you to have an opinion on.

A related skill is recognizing that the list of things on which an opinion is required is different for everyone.

This is really interesting, and useful in balancing sensible precaution and undue worry.
1) Prostate cancer thread:
In recent years, especially this year, there's been much debate in the UK media and elsewhere (often related to experiences of men in the public eye) about prostate cancer: on the importance of testing/early treatment, and (often) calling for new screening initiatives.

@zaltzcricket.bsky.social this piece of Bugle #merch is our Turin Shroud in that it’s faded, of uncertain vintage and features an image of our Lord and Saviour (alongside you). Looking forward to seeing you in Farnham.
