Middle school boys "nudified" pictures of a classmate with AI and passed them around. She begged administrators to act; the school did nothing. Ridiculed and bullied, she fought the boy who started it. So of course the school disciplined HER. eedition.houstonchronicle.com/infinity/art... -

What a scoop from Lisa Friedman. “They just happened to mention to me they were going to D.C., and I was like ‘Well, my wife is back there.’” Mr. Falen said, about executives from Lithium America. “It was my fault because I just said, ‘Yeah, you should stop by and say hi to my wife.’”

In the old days, we would seek comment on stories about climate change from experts in the field who have spent decades studying evidence of the effects of greenhouse gases and findingsolutions. That ends today. Now we'll get your uncle Rooster who you had that big argument with at Thanksgiving.

"It was a turning point toward a version of Mr. Trump who is even more lawless than the one who governed the country in his first term. It heralded a culture of political unaccountability, in which people who violently attacked Congress and beat police officers escaped without lasting consequence."

When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?

Reporters, doing their jobs. Doing them well. And being accused by MAGA officials of stalking and intimidation. People who don’t understand the role of the press in a democracy shouldn’t be allowed to lead. But the bigger problem is that they DO know the role of the press and want to squelch it.
Our Reporters Reached Out for Comment. They Were Accused of Stalking and Intimidation.
Our journalists reach out to people they’re writing about to ensure fairness. But in this environment, they’ve found their efforts to do so are more likely to be vilified than appreciated.
