Can’t say why exactly, but the phrase “once again refused a pierogi” made me laugh out loud.

Someone knocked on my office door and I forgot to switch to Work Me mode, so Regular Me answered, “Come INNNNN” in a deep, vampire-y voice.

(Pardon me while I walk out into the sunlight to incinerate myself.)

The dry down of the perfume (some Gucci sample) I’m wearing smells like baby lotion. I mean, a very luxurious baby lotion, but still.

Am muting a conversation and not replying how I would like to reply ONLY because a friend suggested “deep breaths and relax. It’s all good. It’s Ramadan!” I’m not an observer, but I can observe goals of increased kindness and charity and not blowing up a volunteer organization with justified ire.

The bathroom cleaning schedule in my office building (one restroom for the entire first floor, no other public bathrooms in the building) is precisely timed to coincide with my digestive system. I did not anticipate that this much of my adult working life would be spent trying not to wet my pants.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance.

Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

It’s been years, but I still think about the complaint I drafted on behalf of a kid who facing expulsion from uni after police violated his civil rights and charged him with b.s. offenses. Wherein I referred to a drug dog as “the canine officer” throughout the pleading.

[P] Shut up, I do not

Shut up I said
You know that thing you do, when you realize you have to go the other direction, and you think just turning around would make you look like a weirdo, so instead you mumble and gesture to nobody as you turn around because that will totally look normal?

Yeah uh huh

Quick question: if you wrote a letter but didn’t mail it because you put the fun in executive dysfunction, should you A) mail it weeks later when you get your act together and find/buy stamps? B) rip it up and write a new letter? C) mail the old one, and write and mail a new one?

There is so. much. SCREAMING going on right now in my neighborhood, evidently due to the eclipse and the entirety of what should be renamed “Chicken Little Middle School” being let out early to use their pinhole cameras and eclipse goggles.

Interrupting me to make a point that I was in the process of making is only slightly less rage-inducing than interrupting me to make a point I already made. Ah, conference calls. At least it wasn’t a video call. My poker face skillz are way rusty from COVID (and not great to begin with).
