Remember just a few years ago when racism and racists were bad?

Lets go back to that.

It is very nearly the tenth anniversary of that brief moment when, for 2 or 3 days, British newspapers remembered refugees are desperate human beings who need our help, rather than scum that it's okay to threaten with violence.

Once again, another excellent article from Fraser Nelson - who, as Editor of the Spectator, did more than anyone else in the UK media class to normalise the far-right conspiracist catastrophism he now so rightly decries.

Finding it difficult to get a GP appointment still?
GP UNEMPLOYMENT

No record of employment in GP practices
19% of 2018/2020
27% of 2021
31% of 2022
33% of 2023
46% of 2024

6900 qualified GP in are either back in hospitals, locums, left UK or unemployed - such a waste of training

Me too!
I wonder what our political landscape would look like if the BBC and other media outlets, but especially the BBC, had provided the Green Party with as much attention as they heaped on Nigel Farage.

Public’s priority is access to GPs
Labour’s promises ‘Bring back the family Doctor’ ‘End the 8am rush’

Reality GPs provide more for less, never run a deficit & yet even this year’s contract is a smaller proportion of the NHS uplift than hospital Trusts

A shift is needed now before it’s too late

Is the reason we can't afford to pay doctors and nurses the same wages they earned in 2008 in real terms

Because £23 billion in contracts goes to private firms providing services to the NHS, generating for them over £3 billion in profit every year?

Profits more important than NHS staff pay?

Labour MPs PROMISED YOU they would make the NHS so good, no one would have to go private

Wes Streeting's new 10 year plan *should have set out how*

1) investing in NHS capacity to match comparable EU countries
2) phasing out the private sector over time

Time to stand up and say we need to rejoin Angela?
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner says that Reform UK leader Nigel Farage "promised the world the moon on a stick" with Brexit. She said that Britain has not seen any of the promised benefits from Brexit.

Knowing Brexit is a deeply dishonest project should be good enough reason to bin it, along with the liars who flogged it to the country.

Instead, we stay stuck in this Brexit dead-end because no one quite has the courage to admit what an epic fuck-up it is.

Corporate Welfare

2012-2027: £11bn subsidy for Drax, produces electricity by burning trees at double the price from gas.

2024 operating profit £1.06bn £869m subsidy.

£97m dividend paid; £300m share buyback.

Will get free money until 2031. No means testing.

Contrast with welfare of people.

NHS ‘My companion’ upgrade to 111

For clarity 111 deals with 8m consultations a year or 22k/day

Half of these are sent to GPs

360m/yr consult in GP practices or 1.4m/day

111 deals with about 2% of patients half sent to GPs

Not going to save the NHS but likely to provide more demand for services

No GP wants this, name another NHS service providing 20% more with 20% less funding, that gets as much flack & as little support

This is the problem

1/9 people waiting for hospital treatment
500k more people long term sick
2300 patients per GP - 500 more than 2016
20% less £

And the housing shortage?

1945-1979 - 5,000,000 council houses built.
1980-2025 - 250,000 council houses built.

That's why.
