One year ago, Trump was sworn in to office. Since then, he has:

-Tanked the economy with his tariffs
-Refused to release all the Epstein files
-Kicked millions of Americans off their health care
-Occupied cities with ICE and the National Guard
-Demolished the East Wing

I think these trust numbers, which are similar to what I've seen in other polling - private and public - are a good reminder that party brands are built over a long period of time and absolutely can change in the face of events, but it's a slow process. R+6 on trade is particularly bonkers.

It’s just one evil thing after another.
Catastrophe: Florida's Department of Health is stopping coverage for antivirals to 10,000 low-income people with HIV infection, blaming impending federal cuts to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. 12.5% of Americans with HIV live in Florida.

BREAKING — Mayor of Lewiston, Maine posts on FB that ICE is coming to the city imminently. This confirms my reporting the agency is planning a surge in the city and state generally.

Lewiston is home to a large Somali-American population, which made up 4.6% of the population as of the 2020 census.

The entire thread is worth reading. But I'll add my own two cents, building on what John has to say:

1) Life is miserable for them. I know someone who left who says that the DOGE boys routinely opened staff meetings with racist jokes.

2) Sometimes you must refuse to be a cog in the machine.
This is a good question. Let's talk about it!

Why do civil servants resign in protest? Couldn't they have done more good on the inside? 🧵
Sincerely wanting to understand why is honest people resigning, being considered an act of bravery or somehow fruitful. It’s one thing if the admin felt embarrassed by the resignations & rectified course. But that’s not happening, so now our institutions are just left with fewer people of integrity.

It never works out in the end when we try to restrict. It’s just colluding with repression. And whenever that happens, it’s blows back in your face 10 fold.
A college philosophy professor in Texas has been told he can't teach about a rather minor philosopher called "Plato" because of new restrictions on teaching about race and gender.

We have become such a silly, stupid country.
