I love BYTE magazine's covers of the early 80s, anticipating all the ways computers will enter our homes in the coming computer revolution years. Things like smart devices and appliances, envisioned in the only ways they could then: radio waves and ultrasonic.

Weather it’s Joe Biden pardoning kids who were caught with a couple ounces of weed or Donald Trump pardoning the Honduran president who smuggled in 400 tons of cocaine, both presidents were soft on drugs.

Wing Commander IV opens with the Black Lance bombing an unarmed medical transport because that's a very easy shorthand for establishing that the people involved are irredeemably evil and that it will be very satisfying to watch them die six CD-ROMs later.

I was always more of a Sierra fan, but I can appreciate a good LucasArts game.
Just a reminder that I also feed an account dedicated to Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts games☝️

Sometimes there are SW games, and sometimes sci-fi games. But also three-headed monkeys, fedoras, land of the dead, tentacles that want to take on the world, animal detectives, cowboys, bikers, mercenaries...

I'll admit that something about the way we're being pushed to look at the world is messed up when holding onto a device that you like and that works is defined as "hoarding."
If a phone still works fine, it’s not “device hoarding” to keep using it. It’s common sense.

This is the correct take. Stewing in white supremacist propaganda is bad for your thinking. And if think you are so savvy that it won’t impact you, you are the exact kind of mark they are slowly converting (I’m looking at you, centrist pundits).
It’s really funny how a generation will roll its eyes at parents who watch Fox News but doesn’t see why being immersed in Twitter is having the same effect. Lots of serious people show up on Fox News too but that shouldn’t be your primary source on the news.

I'm pretty sure that the epic and energetic music that the Romans had in MS-DOS Civilization was why I picked them most of the time. It's one of my favourite video game tunes.

Most games after, I go for the USA (🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸), especially in Revolution (for B-17 Bombers).

I'm being rescued by the anchors of PBS News Hour.

If news shows don't count, it means I'm being rescued by the Planet Express crew. Which means I'm almost certainly going to die.
You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I am...all kinds of fine with this.

This one was an actual ant simulator. The idea sounds weird. But it was actually really fun to play.

Congressional Democrats have implored members of the military to reject any illegal orders they may receive. President Trump has responded with Truth Social posts reading "HANG THEM" and “punishable by DEATH.” Weary voters just want both sides to turn down the temperature.

Played it back in the day. Another fun one. One notable thing is that this was a sequel to an earlier game, Maniac Mansion. You can actually play the full version of Maniac Mansion on a computer in Day of the Tentacle, meaning that DOTT is two games in one.

If folks haven't read it, I recommend @annaleen.bsky.social's Stories are Weapons, which is unfortunately more and more relevant during this administration. When I started it, I thought, "yeah yeah, I know this." But each chapter was 🤯; well researched analysis of these tactics, recent & historical.

Doom should run smooooth on a Pentium 90. :-)
Pentium Power! One of the sleeker looking non-Japanese PCs I've seen advertised in mid-90s PC mags. For $1695 and above, Zephyr will give you a rig with either a 486 DX2 66 with a Pentium Overdrive slot, or a speedy Pentium 90 - plus DOOM pre-installed!

One of the most discouraging things about the last ten years has been learning just how many people are unbothered by this sort of thing - and how many actually cheer for it. The knowledge has changed the way I view America.
As disgusting as Trump “Quiet, Piggy” to a reporter is, if we’ve learned anything in the last 10 years, it’s that MAGA voters DO NOT CARE about this kind of thing. In fact, many love it!
