Great stuff here from @charlotteclymer.bsky.social. If you’re a person who is unable to keep your mouth shut in the face of injustice and tyranny, you’ve probably been racking your brain to figure out what’s going on. This helps.

The current administration's systematic dismantling of our research infrastructure—402 documented attacks in just 6 months—represents more than policy disagreement. It's an abandonment of the principle that knowledge should serve the common good and expand opportunity for all communities.
We are six months into the second Trump administration and the scale and severity of its assault on our nation's science and democracy has been unrelenting.

Today, @ucs.org releases a detailed assessment of the damage so far and where we go from here: www.ucs.org/resources/sc... #ProtectScience

Hi! Former VC lawyer and certified political economist here.

This is 100% true - university research subsidized by the federal gov't is directly or indirectly the foundation of most tech startups.

Destroy the federal funding or the universities and it all falls apart.

Silicon Valley VCs sit atop a system where federal and state governments spent more on basic research of all kinds than most other countries in the world combined, and then take the ideas that come out of that and take it the last mile. An important function, but they disproportionately benefit.
