The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

Think much of the over-parenting we despise stems from the early on fear of the driver.
If parents weren't terrified of our streets kids would have so much more freedom and independence which might get them comfortable with their children's ability to navigate the world without them.

I spoke with five families in the D.C. region about what it's like raising trans kids in Trump's backyard.

They shared fears about being personally targeted by the federal government and their joys in raising kids that are learning to express themselves authentically in a difficult world.

Arsonists and I Talk About How to Stop Those Weird Fires

Firefighters across the country say that my guests are starting these fires on purpose. My guests just want that sort of inflammatory rhetoric to stop.

When I was placed on the Professor Watchlist in 2021, people sent death threats about my children. I had security officers monitor my 8yo at school.

Where is all the outrage for those of us who have been targeted for years? Where is the outrage for our families?

My own colleagues are silent.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

I just don’t love the framing of ‘we should set aside our differences & fight the real enemy’ kumbaya shit because sure I would love to but also many of the people asking us to set aside our differences also say that we are losing elections because trans people advocate for their rights too loudly.

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.

1: I don't really give a fuck if it's divisive - trans rights are human rights; human rights aren't negotiable.
2: Setting aside the moral point, giving on any group's rights because their rights are "divisive" is genuinely stupid and short-sighted. Because it won't stop there - never does.
