Trump constantly calls for judges to be impeached. He singles them out for abuse. And today, his administration arrested two judges—one, Judge Hannah Dugan, a Wisconsinite—in what can only be called an act of political theater, calculated to intimidate.

I care less about Signal chats and more about the blacksite offshore concentration camps we're sending random people to without any semblance of a trial, so I'll be interested to see if the national media can rub their bellies and pat their heads at the same time this week. Historically they can't.

The cool part about The Onion in print is people leave them around coffee shops and workplaces. Kids steal them and bring them to school. People love this shit, which makes the staff happy, which makes the paper better, which makes business better. We consult no algorithm. We just make fun of jerks.

➡️ Trump and his administration tell a lie.

➡️ Right-wing media reports on the lie as fact.

➡️ Trump administration cites the reporting to substantiate the lie.

➡️ Trump sees the lie on right-wing media and thinks it's actually true.

Scoop from @jewishcurrents.bsky.social: The ADL is dropping its anti-bias training, and also "deleted lesson plans on topics such as transgender identity, white privilege, school integration, and the impact of boarding schools on Native Americans."

Very clear the org is going hard right.

I think about this a lot when it comes to 19th and 20th century figures. Which popular “geniuses” from American history would’ve been completely exposed as lunatics coasting on wealth and privilege if they were given a 24/7 way to communicate unfiltered with the world?
Has to be rough for Elon to know that his popularity is inversely correlated with his public exposure. People thought this guy was a genius before he started posting in earnest

It's an error to think the point of protesting is to petition the authorities.

Donald Trump isn't a well-meaning public servant looking to represent constituents. He's a power-hungry sadist who benefits from displays of grief and impotent rage.

Today, politics a question of relations of raw force.

Neither courts nor laws will suffice to halt the descent into autocracy. Massive numbers of people will have to take direct action on their own initiative—in other words, to become anarchists.

bluesky may be a left-wing bubble in a lot of ways but it is genuinely helpful to me to come on here and see a bunch of smart, kind, thoughtful people who are also outraged by what’s going on

Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.

RFK Jr on the measles vaccine: "There are adverse events from the vaccine. It does cause deaths every year. It causes all the illnesses that measles itself cause."
