It seems bad that only $668 million of California's $31 billion transportation budget is for public transit capital projects next year.

HSR gets another $798 million.

$1.45 billion out of $31 billion. It's a hidden form of climate arson.
The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Transportation
In this post, we summarize some of the most notable components of transportation program budgets in the 2025-26 spending plan.

Wellstone Dems @wellstonedem.bsky.social had a meeting on transit funding. Regional measure in 2026 will cover the basics, but to fully restore and improve service, we also need:
- State funding
- Local funding measures
- Shift county/state highway $ to transit

After so many shameful low points from him and for our country, this one is uniquely embarrassing and dangerous for all Americans.

This is no way to speak to anyone. Especially not to an audience of world leaders who are guests of our nation and our great city of New York.

very troubling
This is my fear for the future of transit, sponsors determining service. It will create inadequate and inequitable service levels and we now lack the credible threat of federal Title VI enforcement. Support for everyone in PA fighting for transit funding!

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

No-cost and reduced cost transfers and open payment are basic features our region should have delivered many years ago. Inept project delivery and the lack of accountability costs people who ride transit more and lowers trust in government. We must do better. 🚆🚍🚌🚏⛴️
Clipper 2.0 is so important, will allow:

💵No-cost/reduced cost transfers between transit agencies
💳Open payment
⏲️30 min grace period for BART excursion fares

So frustrating that the Clipper 2.0 launch has slipped again and and again and again. MTC must act to get riders these improvements ASAP.
Today at 1pm the Clipper Executive Board gets an update on the launch of Clipper 2.0. Unfortunately the date is slipping til July, and the staff report doesn't even mention the issue Caltrain reported about handheld reader battery life. Agenda & zoom link here: mtc.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=...

So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead

The AC Transit Board is deciding TONIGHT whether to proceed with a 20% fare increase originally approved in 2019. The world has changed since then and we need to re-examine the proposal to meet the current conditions.

Entire USAID agency worldwide was deleted by a consulting government employee with no authority to do so. It’s a constitutional crisis that puts US national security at risk and normies won’t get this until legacy media says this clearly and loudly.

Again, this is obviously illegal & unconstitutional, as with all the other obviously illegal & unconstitutional things that should have ended his presidency this week. And again, people (the institutions are made up of people) will have to stop violating their oaths to stop him. On endless repeat:

It's time to modify CA ICT and turn it primarily into an ops grant program that scores proposals on mode shift impact. The current structure is pushing agencies toward risky tech with high operational overhead at the exact time there is no room for ops overhead.
In opening remarks, RCTC head highlighted Sunline Transit's move to H2 buses, despite issues with the tech causing 20% service reductions. Local buses provide bare bones, barely usable service but our agencies are focused on replacing CNG with H2 instead of improving mode share.
In initial public comment, Adriana Rizzo of Californians for Electric Rail notes that Riverside has lowest transit mode share in the state, a key factor being lack of funding. A key regional funding source only allocates 15% of funding to transit, mostly funding roads. @calelectricrail.bsky.social

This

The degree that the right is allowed to frame the conversation is largely why we are here

If they go on about DEI, reporters should specifically say "why don't you believe women, Black, Hispanics are able to do the job? Isn't that a racist/sexist position?"

Spell it out and make them answer
Stop fucking saying he blamed “DEI,” which is some abstract, non-tangible idea. He is blaming people of color having jobs he thinks they aren’t qualified for. He’s blaming race. He’s being racist every time he says it. Journalists need to get fucking backbones, my word.

Friends… I’ve been trying to find words all day. Safety should be the top priority for transportation. People should be able to travel home, to see friends, for work, vacation, ice skating competition, or whatever other reason.
