There are so many things about this which are easy to mock. But what I am choosing to chuckle about is MAGA’s obsession with adverbs and inappropriate capitalization.

Worth reading in full. It is NUTS.

love this for us
Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.

Without scientist Kseniia Petrova’s expertise, no one can fully unlock the data’s potential, putting crucial advancements in early cancer detection at risk.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.

Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

This is…just not OK
An innocent man who committed no crime but is the same race as the person who murdered your daughter should have to spend the rest of his life in a concentration camp is the argument?

Instead of reading the news today, I baked (mini banana muffins, whole wheat sandwich bread, and hamburger buns). I prepped lunches, sat outside with a Bloody Mary while the kids rode bikes, and finished a book. The news is obviously still news-ing but I’m happier to have had a break from it.

Who could have predicted that letting these idiots have access to alllll the things wouldn’t end well.
Social Security numbers and other private information of more than 200 former congressional staffers and others were made public Tuesday in unredacted files related to the assassination of JFK. Many of these people are still alive and therefore now vulnerable to privacy theft and doxing

Oh, tariffs. Significant tariffs, just the threat alone, create chaos in trade. Tariffs increase prices, reduce employment, and -- as we've seen today with Canada, China, AND Mexico announcing retaliatory tariffs -- beget more chaos.

This is the CTRL+F Presidency.
Just talked to a friend who works for the DoE and had 2 papers censored for violating an EO. One because it uses “toxicity” (about chemical leakage into drinking wells) & the other for “diversity” (as in “microbial diversity”).

We are at Soviet-level stupidity censorship.

One really wonders where the Democrats are right now. We all understand the limits the minority faces in our system, but they are not powerless and they need to stand up for our system and the people who are are trying to dedicate their lives to something bigger.
We are wasting our federal talent pool for no good reason.

My husband works for AID and I’ve long believed in its mission. I had to explain to our girls tonight why I was so sad and short tempered. We are abandoning both our moral obligation and the people who have chosen to serve their country. It’s a dark day, and the end of an era of US leadership.

This whole effort was brazenly illegal. From the big picture down to innumerable individual acts. But even if course was shifted now, which is basically unimaginable, Musk likely has already essentially destroyed the organization. Under the best circs will take years or decades to rebuild.
USAID’s website has been deleted, all that is left is a note saying all personnel are now on administrative leave and personnel outside the US are to be brought home. Completely illegal, no act of congress or even executive order was signed to dismantle the agency
