ok, I’m conservative enough to say it: this speech is an immense insult to the United States military, a professional and competent organization which takes the business of warfare seriously and is by and large well aware that “masculine” peacocking is not the same as discipline or effectiveness.

Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

He's telling us what he's doing. Using the military to suppress protest. At some point the opposition needs to listen to him and adjust strategy.
"The FBI doesn't have the shooter in custody because they are too busy helping ICE arrest everyone found speaking Spanish near a Home Depot" is just literally and straightforwardly true.

It's not lost on me in the midst of this eulogizing and memorializing a monster that my home state, Florida, has made it a crime to commemorate or remember the victims of the Pulse massacre.
In America, only some deaths are considered grievable. The rest of us are just "collateral damage."

I have found that when someone keeps accidentally misgendering me I start to care less about it, not directly, but via caring about them less. I'm not sure I'm a fan of this but it's definitely what my brain does by default.

I believe in the egg prime directive in the same way that any decent starfleet captain believes in the regular prime directive: as something you are supposed and indeed morally compelled to break all the time but that allows you to go "ugh well here I go again" before you do
