One of the biggest scams of our generation is influencers and podcasters appearing organic and independent when they're in fact extensions of BRICS and the Russian state.

Black(out) Friday in Kazan.

This video shows the moment a substation exploded with a bright blue flash and a shower of sparks. Note there is no apparent drone heard beforehand.

Russian electrical grid damage may be reaching a critical point now if parts are failing under load.

Putin is the Hyacinth Bucket of great power leaders: it's all about keeping up appearances. Russia's a great power only to the extent that it can persuade others it is, because there's very little material basis for its pretensions to great power status. That's why Trump's deference is so important.

To understand Putin's actions one must understand his motivation, and Putin only cares about himself. He doesn't care at all about the Russian people. Thus, any action that threatens Putin's position will not be taken, including peace negotiations.

@MartinKragh1: I have a somewhat different take on Russia’s approach to ‘peace negotiations’. The Kremlin uses them as a tool to derail the threat of sanctions, or otherwise hinder a development…

It’s Russia who needs to be demilitarised , to make world a safer place. Because clearly, Russia can’t handle having an army without constantly attacking its neighbours for no reason. And so maybe Russia shouldn’t have one at all.

Unfortunately, the fascist takeover in the US also affects the whole world. But the ability and responsibility to stop it lies solely with the population of the US.

Regardless of the outcomes of peace negotiations, Russian war criminals must face justice. This has not been ‘a few bad apples’; it has been a systemic approach to barbarity endorsed from the top. There can be no ‘get out of jail free’ card for them.

The current mess in DC only signals to Beijing that the US lacks unity, organization, and strategic vision to handle an even larger conflict, as the Pacific region is likely to become. Bombing Iran after Israel's SEAD or running masculine army ads doesn’t compensate for it

People have done a massive disservice to Ukraine and Europe by pretending Trump might do the right thing and help Ukraine. It raised hopes in a fantasy and kept people from facing reality. Trump is with Putin and all Europeans need to face that squarely.

On Ukraine; on European security and attitudes to Europe's political and cultural identity; on international law and the use of force, the Trump administration is aligning with Russia. That is unprecedented. This isn't a restoration, it's a revolution in the relationship.

You have to be one sick bastard to see this day after day and decide to reward the one who started the war, the one who targets civilians, the one who is already an indicted war criminal.

Sick, or compromised.

Better late than never, the Catholic Bishops are showing up.
One of the most fascinating parts of the Trump presidency: two of the biggest bulwarks against Trump's descent on American cities are largely women willing to photograph and film ICE agents and Catholic priests and bishops willing to accompany migrants to court. You see both in Chicago.
Good statement from the US conference of Catholic Bishops

Please correct this! Sarah Kendzior has been a voice in the wilderness for many years. She has proven herself prescient and honorable. Banning/suspension from Bsky is a shocking partisan assault on a journalist hated by the right.
