The Russo-Ukrainian war started at 4.30 AM on February 27th 2014 when Russian troops took control of the Crimean Parliament building in Simferopol. The invasion of Crimea was followed by the invasion of Donbass in March 2014. The war has been going on ever since.
Russia is in the money printing game.
You are right, basically the central bank prints money to cover the budget deficit pretending it isn't printing money to cover the budget deficit. They've been doing this for more than a year now, since late 2024.

Please correct me here cause I am not sure what I am talking about. But I think the below shows that the Russian Government is issuing bonds (borrowing money) from commercial banks, who pay for the bond with the liquid cash they have. But as the commercial banks now have too little cash to...
🧵1/12: Russia’s economy hasn’t collapsed, but it is suffering immensely. It still runs, but only because the central bank keeps it alive with constant REPO liquidity. What was once emergency support is now the daily operating system.

Kyiv was attacked overnight. Russia launched Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, ballistic missiles and Kalibr cruise missiles simultaneously. Energy infrastructure was targeted, including CHPP-4, CHPP-5, CHPP-6 and the hydroelectric plant. Power and water outages are reported across multiple districts.

Footage from Kyiv shows the moment a drone strikes a residential high rise in the Pozniaky district. Another direct and deliberate attack on civilian housing.

Residential areas were damaged following the arrival of Russian Shahed drones. This is not warfare, it is terror, carried out deliberately, day after day.

Obama must be the biggest foreign policy disaster since 1945.
Here he is, in October 2012, mocking Mitt Romney after the governor named Russia a threat. A little bit more than a year later Russia invaded Ukraine, and Obama did nothing about it.

This should once and for all remove the "Russia has justified security concerns because of NATO expansion"-narrative. Russia's concern with NATO was always that it would prevent Russia's imperial war. NATO was never the cause of the war. The NATO-argument was meant to slow support for Ukraine.
It's been there all the time with Putin. Revanchism is, apart from theft, one of Putin's big motivators. We could have stopped it, or prepared for it, already then. But no, 20 years of forced forgetfulness of history followed with maybe the worst generation of leaders ever.
Christmas came early to the Russia scholars with Santa declassifying the Bush-Putin meeting transcripts.

That's 2001. Ukraine is Russian land, simply given away for no reason, as if USSR had not collapsed and there was no Ukraine independence referendum. And, long before the 2008 Bucharest Summit

Will be an interesting situation when all non-military companies in Russia go bankrupt at the same time.

I think we are not yet at the point of Russian collapse but we are getting there. Russia is like a family with a bunch of credit cards, bank accounts, family jewels, some expensive cars etc. One by one they are emptying the accounts while the neighbors still see a rich family.

Russia should have settled for peace as soon as their plans to conquer Kyiv had failed, but before they retreated from Kyiv Oblast. After that Russia has only been losing. As it is now Russia, the country not the armed forces, is breaking up more and more as time passes.

I thought about how I spot bots. They has a balanced life. Bots always have a favorite team or group, they post about common things, but their comments might be only pro-Russian.
Real people I follow here are single minded types who never share anything off topic, and are open with their believes.

The U.S. is fueling euro nationalism like never before. Liberal parties who support a more federal Europe will do well thanks to America's bashing of them. The U.S. leadership is proving a severe lack of understanding of Europe. Younger generations want more Europe, not less.

Are you prepared to take it by force?

So it appears it wasn't just Belgium who screwed us when taking the Russian money. France and Italy was in on it too. Macron has been an especially slippery player all along. How much has France really contributed with? Lots of talk, not so much action. And now back to calling Putin again.
