As we celebrate Canada Day, it’s also Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador, commemorating the Newfoundland Regiment’s terrible sacrifice at the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel during the First World War. I took these pictures on a visit to the memorial in France in 2015.
