In extraordinary moments such as this, too many journalists behave as if they have more in common with billionaires destroying journalism than the 80 or so people killed in Venezuela by Trump’s airstrikes. If we’ve learned anything this past year, it’s that proximity to power does not equal power.
Call Trump's power grab in Venezuela what it is
Corporate media must recognize they're being openly lied to—and report accordingly.

As someone who wasn’t around for Vietnam and not old enough to cover Iraq/Afghanistan, it’s easy to look at media coverage leading up to those wars and say I would’ve done better. I hoped that journalists of my generation would never have to prove that in practice, but it seems this is our moment.

New — I wrote about how corporate media is immediately siding with power in the wake of Trump attacking Venezuela and capturing Maduro, and how journalists need to treat the administration as a hostile entity that’s openly lying to them.

At some point, I would love to see an interviewer ask someone from the Trump administration which specific portion of Article II they are relying on.
Pam Bondi: "This was well within the president's Article 2 powers. It was a law enforcement function to arrest indicted individuals in Venezuela."

It will never be erased. Demand accountability from members of the House & Senate.
Hold the GOP accountable, register to vote.
Five years ago, Donald Trump instigated a violent insurrection in the Capitol to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 election. The fact that the GOP coddled him, protected him, renominated him, and now support him in office, is a stain that will never be erased.

Here is the Trump Doctrine, as articulated by Stephen Miller in his truly frightening interview with Jake Tapper this afternoon. It is very much like the doctrine of the dictators we fought and defeated in World War II and of Putin today. It is un-American at its very core.

Told ya

Big Oil has half a trillion dollars invested in infrastructure for West Canada oilfields. That's where they went after Venezuela nationalised their oil.

The Keystone Pipeline *alone* runs over 2000 miles from Alberta to the Gulf Coast in Texas!

Venezuelan oil competes with that investment

TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?
